Best VoIP Service Options

IP phones for office on the store shelves

What the best VoIP service out there? Well, of course, we think we are. After all, this is our website.

Joking aside, though, what the best VoIP service for you consists of depends on your precise needs.  For instance, our company focuses on business phone systems, so if you’re looking for residential service, you’re probably going to find more of what you need for a purely residential line from whoever your Internet provider is. Residential Internet providers have largely taken the hint that people want home VoIP lines.  Google even offers a free VoIP option for an individual who already has a cell phone.

Huge businesses, like Intuit, can afford to develop and maintain their own internal VoIP service specifically for their offices alone.  So, no, we’re not the best option for a company that already has an IT budget rivaling the GDP of some European countries. However, they don’t make their VoIP service available outside their own corporation, so it’s no help for anyone else.

These are the two extreme ends of the VoIP spectrum.  Most options, like NoContractVoIP, fall somewhere in the middle.

Importance of Access To Help

So, after consideration of type and scale of service you need, the next question is how much customer and technical support does your business need to use VoIP? What tradeoffs are you willing to make as a business owner?

Some business VoIP options out there are really cheap. Twilio, for instance, is probably the cheapest on the market right now.  However, they provide exactly zero assistance to their clients.  Businesses using Twilio had better know how to set up and maintain their own phone systems all by themselves. The tradeoff lies in quality of customer service and support.

We’re at the other end of that particular spectrum.  At NoContractVoIP, we always have a real human answering the phone. We take care of everything in terms of technical and customer support.  Our clients don’t have to know anything at all about computers, IT, or phones.  Just tell us what you want your callers’ experience to look like and we make it happen. We’ll design an entire custom phone system for you, enabling whatever features you need and integrating whatever equipment necessary. We think we’re competitive in terms of price, of course, but we cost more upfront than a company that offers low quality support while locking you into a long contract.

Other options, like RingCentral, Nextiva, and other offerings fall in between us and Twilio in terms of features, customization, and personal support.  Many of them try to make the same system work for both residential and business, which can work for a little while but quickly gets clunky for businesses. They also often want to sell packages that don’t allow for custom fitting to a business’s needs. For very small businesses, they often offer a lot of bang for the buck, but get expensive to scale fast.
